We are seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees to provide strategic leadership and ensure the organisation remains true to its mission and vision. As our chair you will lead a dynamic team driving positive change and empowering the next generation of marine advocates!
About the role
The Chair provides strategic leadership to the Board, ensuring that YSCS remains true to its mission and vision. They will hold the Board and staff team to account for the organisation’s performance, governance, and impact. As Chair, your overarching responsibilities are to:
Provide inclusive and effective leadership to the Board, ensuring all members fulfil their responsibilities.
Support and, where appropriate, challenge the Director, fostering a strong and collaborative partnership.
Ensure the Board functions cohesively, working as a team toward shared goals.
Act as an ambassador for YSCS, representing and promoting the organisation to external stakeholders and young people.
About you
We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to protecting our seas and empowering young people. You’ll bring enthusiasm, strategic insight, and strong leadership to the role, and work constructively with fellow trustees and staff to ensure good governance and lasting impact.
Experience as a Chair or Trustee of a charity is desirable, as is experience operating at a senior or strategic leadership level. A background in strategy, governance, finance, fundraising, or business development would also be advantageous.
